Adventure Awaits. Collecting memories, not things.

We’re Jen, Dean and Maddy - an Australian family who believe some of the best memories are made when you pack the car, head somewhere new and see where the adventure takes you.

Adventures of Jen & Dean is our place to share the trips, experiences and little discoveries we find along the way. From weekend escapes and road trips to camping, unique stays, hidden gems, great food and wine, wildlife encounters and family adventures, we’re always looking for experiences worth remembering.

We’re based in Queensland, but our adventures take us wherever there’s something interesting to discover. Sometimes that means exploring somewhere completely new; other times it means returning to a favourite destination and finding another reason to love it.

And our travels aren’t always perfectly planned.

Cars break down. It rains. Plans change. Someone gets hungry. We take the wrong turn. And occasionally an unexpected three-night getaway becomes five.

But that’s part of the adventure.

We want to share the real experience of travelling as a family - the places we genuinely enjoy, the businesses we’re excited to discover, the things Maddy insists need to be added to the itinerary, and those unexpected moments that often become the stories we remember most.

You’ll find us exploring national parks, discovering local producers, staying somewhere a little different, hunting down a great meal, sitting around a campfire, tasting local wine, finding somewhere fun for Maddy - and probably stopping at a visitor information centre to find out what we’ve missed.

Our aim is simple: to inspire other families, couples and everyday adventurers to get out and explore, whether that's a weekend close to home or a much bigger journey.

We’re not trying to tick destinations off a list.

The planner, water lover & firm believer that holidays are better when someone else is doing the cooking.

Jen loves the anticipation of a new adventure almost as much as the adventure itself. She’s the planner of the crew and happiest when there’s a great itinerary ahead - although she’s learning that some of the best travel stories happen when the itinerary goes completely out the window.

Put her near the ocean, on a cruise ship or somewhere with a beautiful water view and she’s in holiday mode. Add a frozen mango daiquiri and a meal she didn’t have to cook or a platter full of local finds, and things are looking even better.

While resort stays and beaches win her vote, Jen’s now been on two camping trips that are slowly winning her over and preparing for the ultimate adventure swapping the resort room for a caravan: packing up and completing a full lap of Australia together.

The spontaneous road-tripper, bush lover & provider of the adventure soundtrack.

Give Dean an open road and somewhere interesting at the other end and he’s ready to go.

He’s the spontaneous half of the planning equation and loves road trips, finding a dirt road, camping and getting out into the bush. He's also responsible for making sure there's a Bluetooth speaker packed, because apparently every adventure needs a soundtrack.

A great burger along the way doesn't hurt, either.

At the end of a day exploring, you'll probably find Dean enjoying a beer while firing up the BBQ or relaxing around the campfire with a good wine and the guitar. He's the fireside guitarist.

And while Jen might be planning how they'll get there, they completely agree on the big one: one day, they'd love to hitch up a caravan and take the family on a full lap of Australia.

Junior adventurer, mocktail connoisseur & very important member of the family travel committee.

For Maddy, the perfect holiday has one essential ingredient: LOTS to do.

She's happiest when an adventure is packed with new experiences, places to explore and things to discover. Animals, activities and experiences are always welcome, preferably with a mocktail somewhere along the way.

Every trip also requires two very important pieces of luggage: Teddy and colouring-in books.

When it comes to road-trip cuisine, Maddy has things figured out. Snacks are essential, cheeseburgers are always a contender, and a good croissant is very welcome.

Planning? That's Mum and Dad's department. Maddy just needs to know where she's going next.

And her bucket list isn't exactly modest: Hawaii, Paris and America are all waiting.

Better Together.

Three travellers. Three very different ideas of the perfect holiday.

Jen wants the itinerary organised.

Dean wants to see where the road takes us.

Maddy just wants to know what fun things have been planned for her.

Jen votes resort. Dean votes camping. Maddy's back on Team Resort.

Jen chooses the beach. Dean and Maddy head for the bush.

Somehow, it works.

What we all agree on is that we'd rather spend our time making memories together — exploring somewhere new, returning to places we love and saying yes to experiences that give us another story to tell.

And there's one adventure already sitting at the top of both Jen and Dean's bucket lists: packing the caravan and taking Maddy on a full lap of Australia.

Maybe one day that will become our biggest adventure yet.

Until then, there are plenty more weekends, road trips, cruises, cabins, campfires, mocktails, burgers, croissants and unexpected detours ahead.
